A church chair is a stable, raised surface used to sit on. Only one person most commonly uses the church chair; but when multiple church chairs have been placed together then multiple people can then sit on them. The church chair often has a seat that is raised above floor level, supported by four legs. However, occasionally a church chair can have three legs or could have a different shape. A church chair without a back or armrest is considered a church chair stool. The church chair with arms and folding action can be considered a church chair armchair.
