Helpful Hints When Comparing Worship Seating
- Line up the samples-backs towards the committee
- This is the view you will see first when entering-which chair is most attractive?
- Check the backs carefully-are wood screws or "T-nuts" used-Wood screws will loosen
- Check fit and finish of the fabric-Loose fabric will wear quickly
- Is the fabric Seamed, Sewn or Folded-Folds are weak and will allow extra wear
- Push chairs forward and lay them on their front to inspect underside
- Are there air holes in the bottom? Foam needs to "breathe" to retain its shape and life
- Is the seat bottom covered and attractive?
- Check the welds-Are they even/smooth or will items be caught on the weld?
- Check the leg brace/spacer bar? Is there one? Is it sturdy and strong?
- Is paint applied evenly and smoothly? Take a coin and try to scrape the paint.
- At the ends of the legs, try to remove glide or plug with pliers-Does it loosen or come off?
- Are the glides self-leveling glides or cheaper versions that might mar or catch on flooring?
- Stand chairs upright
- Which chair is most attractive to you?
- Do an initial comfort test-which chair provides the correct support and "sits" the best"
- Do NOT play musical chairs, take your time-you'll have them for a long time
- Take turns sitting for a minimum of a half-hour and preferably more-Your services aren't 30 seconds long
- Put all you r samples in the church and encourage people to use them during services
- Have your pastor, secretary and others use the chair at their desks. Get their feedback
